Why? Because a human made it by hand. It wasn't dispensed by a machine.

As AI-generated code floods GitHub, a counter-movement is emerging: The Human-Verified Badge.

What is it?

It's a simple badge on a GitHub README:
`![Human Verified]`

It signals:
1. This code was written by a human.
2. The logic is understood by a human.
3. The maintainer takes personal responsibility for every line.

The “Premium” Signal

In a sea of “slop” (low-quality AI code), Human Code is becoming a luxury good.
* Security: AI code is prone to hallucinations and supply chain attacks (see our article on Context Poisoning). Human code is perceived as safer.
* Craftsmanship: AI writes generic, boilerplate code. Humans write clever, optimized, elegant solutions.

The “No-AI” License

Some developers are going further, adding clauses to their licenses:
> “This software may not be used to train AI models, and pull requests generated by AI will be automatically rejected.”

It is a rebellion against the commoditization of their craft.

Is It Sustainable?

Probably not.
The “Handmade” label works for coffee and furniture. Does it work for infrastructure?
Do you care if the bridge you drive over was built by “artisanal engineers” or by robots, as long as it doesn't collapse?

Most users just want software that works. If AI writes it faster and cheaper, the market will choose AI.
But for a niche group of purists, the Human-Verified Badge is a badge of honor. It says: “I still know how to think.”
